felicity's favorites from America xo

American fashion, to sum it up in a few words, simple, fierce and absolutely fabulous!!

I don't actually think the bulk of the population has any fashion sense at all, but when you do see the fashionistas on the streets, they really do get it right.
American's have definitely taken a turn for the better, having incorporated more European style into their wardrobes, I call it the " London Look".

I shopped everywhere from the hidden gem of Woodbury common - premium outlets, to Zara, Top Shop, Forever 21,Vintage stores and unique boutiques and here are some clips of  my favorite pieces.

I hope you all love the taste of America!!
Until next time xoxo

American shopping spree!

SAN FRANSISCO
The United States of America, we all know where it is and when it is mention the things that come to mind are; XXXL sizes, fast food, Hollywood, movies and no fashion what so ever.
Well I'm taking a break from my normal blogging of Fashions of the field for the next couple of weeks. Because in 7 days time I will be venturing on over to this large country in search of the most fabulous fashions that we can use for the Spring racing carnival.

First stop is San Fransisco, the city that is known for it's hilly streets, the golden gate bridge and its diversity in culture and fashion.

NEW YORK

Of course I'm going to the big apple, the one city in America that actually prides it self on being one of the world's fashion capitals.

TIME SQUARE

When you travel to an amazing city like NYC, make sure you go off the beaten track, find those hidden gems, go into the coolest cocktail bar in the city and use your experiences to inspire some of your Spring racing outfits.
I know I will be!!!

LAS VEGAS

Basically everyone knows the rule, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.....
Except for, any great fashion you find along the way, these need to be brought back down under.

HOLLYWOOD - AKA L.A

Los Angeles, were do I start, this town does extremes very well, on one side of the city you have the rich and famous that are living their lives in luxury and then you look to the other side and you see the slums of Los Angeles people scrapping by on the bare minimum, it almost doesn't make sense how big of difference there is between their life styles.
This city is manufactured to the limit, but if you can get past their tourist front that they put up, you will be able to find the vibe that all LA people love and live for, "the cool".(this is not easy to find)
But if you don't have time, just drop in see all the main attractions and then get out before you get sucked in.

I hope you are all excited to experience my fashion adventures with me!!

Until next time  - San Fransisco

What day to go to..... and what to wear

* DERBY DAY *

Traditionally know for having the classic colour scheme of black and white for women and men to be dressed in "morning suits", which is a slightly less formal suit and normally is in a mid-grey. This day kicks off the start of the flemington spring racing carnival, it is always held on the Saturday prior to the Melbourne cup.
Derby day is becoming the best dressed day out of all the days and it definitely attracts all of Melbourne's most beautiful people.
To do well in fashions on the field on this day, you must be dressed in black and white, with a high level of sophistication and some element of difference on your outfit, whether it is your hat, a patterned fabric or some amazing shoes!! Anything that will make you stand out of the sea of black and white.

* Caulfield Guineas Day *

Caulfield cup is a predominately a younger crowd. Expect to see more commercial fashions and some fashions that should not be allowed!! Fake tan smothers the air, trashy looking outfits are everywhere, and my advice is to leave a bit earlier as it is a very messy crowd.
Fashions on the field entrants, should go for a young fresh look, something with a bit of color and confidence. Fashions on the field has a great under cover set up, so no matter the weather the competition will still go on and be sure to practice your cat walk as the judges are sitting right at your feet.

* Oaks Day *

Also known as ladies day is held on the Thursday following the Melbourne cup. Oaks day fashion is all about embracing the beautiful colors of spring and being ultra feminine. The crowd at oaks day is eccentric yet stylish, however over the last few years the men have caught on to the idea that it is ladies day, so they swarm in packs to scout out the lovely females!!
Fashions on the field must for oaks day is color , class and feminine dressing. Your out fit must be coordinated very well from head to toe. It is not the strongest fashion day so it is my tip to head to oaks day this year as there is not as much competition.

* Stakes Day *

Stakes day fashions is all about a bit of fun for the kids!! So all you young ones wanting to compete this is your oppurtunity, there is three different age groups to enter in; junior age 6-10, intermmediate age 11-14 and senior age 15-17.
So parents don't forget when you are out getting your outfit and need to get your kids one too. The most important thing is keeping the kids looking their age, young and cute as pie.

* Melbourne Cup*

Last but not the least the Melbourne Cup, the biggest horse race, but is the biggest day for fashions....
I would personal rate it 3rd place with Derby day and Oaks comming in before it.
The Melbourne cup attracts a bit more of a rudy crowd it doesn't quite exserube elegance, maybe more like boggans..
The Fashions on the field competion is good, my tip would be to wear a on trend outfit, this is the day that the judges like to see there " Myer", outfits come out. Just like last years winner was wearing Cue, it's modern and chic, but it is also a bit boering.

Well ladies and gents I hope you pick the perfect day for what you are looking for.

until next time xoxo
